The daughter of a diplomat finds herself in an unexpected situation when she fake dates a Scottish celebrity in Italy. Introverted and slightly anxious, Astoria "Story" Herriot is well-versed in the wonders of Rome, where her mother is an attorney and the two have been living la dolce vita. However, this idyllic lifestyle is about to take an unexpected turn.
It all starts when Story, in the wrong gelato shop at the right time, gets swept up in a fake dating scheme with Scottish heartthrob, Luca Kinnaird. The arrangement benefits them both – Luca needs to protect his relationship with a pop princess, while Story is promised help in funding a scholarship in her father's memory.
Suddenly, Story finds herself showing Luca the best cafés, sightseeing at the Mouth of Truth, and picnicking at the ruins of the Abbey of Santa Maria del Piano. Her travel guide skills are impeccable, but when it comes to navigating the world of celebrity, Story is a complete novice.
As the paparazzi's attention is drawn to the fake couple, the line between truth and fiction begins to blur. Sophisticated, hot, rich, and with the most charming accent ever, Luca proves to be full of surprises. And perhaps, so is Story's perfectly planned future.
What started as a simple arrangement soon blossoms into a fairy-tale romance in the Eternal City. But will this unexpected love story have a happily-ever-after ending, or will the harsh glare of the paparazzi's spotlight ultimately tear them apart?
As Story and Luca's worlds collide, they must navigate the complexities of their growing feelings, the demands of their separate lives, and the ever-present threat of the paparazzi's knives. In the end, it's a question of whether they can find a way to make their unexpected connection work, or if the realities of their lives will prove too much to overcome.
